Krugersdorp, I have arrived

Mandy Norval from Krugersdorp writes:

I am a new comer to your, my first thought on the Greyhound bus, one horse town.

Still have not decided if I am unpacking my boxes but seriously considering it.

I came across more than one horse. I need to however thank the NEWS for being available when I was a jobseeker and finding my awesome job.

I feel so at home as if I’ve been here all my life. Thank you too to the accommodating company I work with for bearing with me when I get that far sad look in my eyes longing for my mountain.

Finding old Paul Kruger here as well instead of only in Pretoria, quite a traveller I must agree, was a odd but inevitable surprise only later making the connection. But please take in consideration coming from a laid back Capetonian culture it was just only a statue.

Visiting your local mall always puts a smile to my face, no people making eye contact.

Asking myself why not? You might just be that one person making a major change in my life on my sad day. Not realising that you can really make a difference daily in someone’s life. A Lesson well observed and taught by my awesome dad.

Came across a stunning lady in the local bottle store, seems to be the only place people dare to smile and make eye contact sure its what we have in common sharing our opinions about fine wine and why we consume it.

My personal favourite a local bottled by four family members, one trying to be more cute than the other one. Thinking after having half of the bottle don’t they all seem so much more acceptable to a single divorcee in her late 40’s? Then thinking is the glass then half full or half empty?

Where do the “outgoing, no luggage, I actually have a job, bank account and my own car” single men hang out?

Please when visiting your local mall next time, smile … we might just make eye contact and you might just be making my day! To smile and enjoy life is a choice we so easily waver and take for granted .

I really enjoy your local news. Recent front page story realising how short life can be still remembering the lovely little one with the heavenly blue eyes who lost his life in a fire. Prayers to the family.

I hope by sharing this and putting a smile on someone ‘s face may hand me the honours of the R250 and then off to my local bottle store for a cousin or two and unpacking boxes.
