At times the devil picks on you

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

Some people think that the only place to hear a sermon is in a church.

Not true. Yes, in a traditional sense sermons are from pastors in church on a Sunday but God speaks in a thousand ways, in a million places.

Until recently large parts of our country have experienced drought. At our family home on a game farm in Limpopo, the giraffes really suffered.

The trees they normally eat from are growing their leaves very late this year. It would be possible for the giraffe to over-graze certain trees, but I am told that as soon as the tree is in danger of being over-grazed and damaged, it sends certain juices to the leaves that make them taste terrible and the giraffe quickly moves on. God created the tree to defend itself.

At times the devil picks on you and robs you of all your fruit and vegetation. It never rains, it pours. You cannot believe it but everything is going wrong in your life.

But God, in his wisdom, makes a promise to you. 1 Cor 10:13, “…but when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it”.

If God gave a simple tree the ability to protect itself, how much more you who are made in his image.
