Packing to go on holiday is always difficult.
You have to calculate where you are going, for how long you will be away and what could happen to the weather.
When you leave hospital with a new-born baby, you are aware of the immediate needs of your little gift from God – food, fluids and shelter. Later other needs become obvious, health, education and cash.
Many parents sacrifice so much so that their children can have a good education. We almost believe that if a child can have a good education, get a great job, earn lots of money, we have done our part.
As I deal with young people in our community, I have realised that many of them either live our dreams or they are caught in the trap of playing with dangerous things such as drugs, alcohol, sex, to mention just a few.
This generation of young people are tired of the false promises made by capitalism and communism, they are looking for real answers.
Disappointed by church, they are searching desperately for peace and purpose.
I don’t have all the answers, but I can suggest to try to follow the Son.
It has helped me.
