Make yourself available to God

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

I wonder if you ever have locked your keys in your car.

That hopeless feeling as you look through the car window and 30 centimetres away you see the keys in the ignition.

A woman’s heart sank as she realised what she had just done. In a busy shopping centre car park, she prayed, “God, please send one of your angels to help me”. With no money for a lock smith she was in a predicament. A rough-looking man walked by and noticed the woman in distress. “What’s wrong, madam?” he asked. Without looking up, she said, “I locked the car keys in the car”.

The man quickly picked up a piece of wire and 30 seconds later he opened the car door and handed the woman her keys. Overjoyed she cried out, “Sir, you are an angel”.

Shocked, the man quickly replied, “No, madam, I have been discharged from prison just today”. The woman fell to her knees, looking up to heaven, she prayed, “Thank you God for sending an expert”.

Somewhere in your travels today you will cross paths with someone who needs an angel. If God could use a man just out of prison, he can use you and me. As I put the pen down after this article and as I get into my car, I will pray, “God, use me today to help one of your children in distress”. Imagine the miracles in our town if all of us made ourselves available to God.

PS. Beware, you may see an angel today without being aware of it.
