Invitation to Mr Estherhuizen to comment on his letter

Fred Elfers from Krugersdorp writes:

The letter that featured in the 9 December edition of the News titled Homo-seksualiteit? written by Johannes Esterhuizen has reference. He, himself, writes absolutely nothing but supposedly makes reference (in Afrikaans) to two passages in the Bible, however, neither of which mentions homosexuality.

Firstly, he misquotes Matthew chapter 17 verse 20 by writing (translated into English), “This molehill has become a mountain by the homosexuals’ own efforts”. The Bible states nothing of the sort and reads (from the New International Version) “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”. This is a fabrication by Esterhuizen because there is no reference whatsoever to homosexuality in the Biblical text.

The second quote from Proverbs chapter 3 verses 1–5 according to the New International Version states, “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. The quote is correct but again, there is nothing whatsoever about homosexuality in the quote from the Bible.

Will Mr Esterhuizen kindly tell us why he is misquoting the Bible and introducing homosexuality into the text? What it the point he is trying to make? If he has something to say then why not come out and say it? His article is deliberately ambiguous. Will he kindly explain it to the readers of the News?
