The article which appeared in the 20 January edition of the News, Mogale, still on holiday? has reference.
This must be one of the weakest responses from any councillor I have read in a long time.
I for one did not support the DA in the recent elections, only to be told that I must accept the deteriorating level of service since the DA took office in Mogale City, nor that it will be a long and on-going process to fix. Councillor Fourie has also conveniently taken a page out of the ‘Book of ANC Excuses’ by blaming those before her/ them. I was expecting the name of Jan van Riebeeck to surface somewhere in her input.
I am aware of the sabotage politics being played in council by certain individuals and parties but one would have expected a response from her giving us the assurance that the concerns of residents are legitimate, and that decisive action is being taken to immediately redress the shortcomings to ensure that we do not slip backwards from the already poor levels of service provision in Mogale. Assure your supporters that there will be immediate to short-term visible deliverables – nothing less is expected from you and the DA!
Instead she feels that she needs a break as 2016 “was very difficult and busy”. Clearly she has no grasp of what it requires to save a sinking ship. It is obviously not her ship, otherwise she and the DA would pull out all the stops.
How about this? Based on your admission that you and council are failing us, (your employer), residents of Mogale should be given a discount on our monthly rates and taxes payable, and further, we only pay this to those who want to represent us properly after we have also taken a breather seeing that 2016 was also tough and busy for us as well.
Wake up and smell it, we are all up to our necks in it, and you want a breather!
