Mogale City is in chaos

Refentse Mangope from Randfontein writes:

I have been observing the political developments in the Mogale City Local Municipality closely for almost four months now.

The City has literally collapsed. I will not judge on what led to the collapse of governance in that municipality, but let me present my observations and you, the community and parties concerned will reflect.

Like in any democracy, political parties contest elections and immediately after being elected into office, they establish government or governance structures, appoint committees and engage communities to develop work or service delivery strategic plans. In the case of Mogale City, since the inauguration of the new Executive Mayor on 18 August 2016, we are still to hear if there are Members of the Mayoral Committee, have they officially met and what is their service delivery, budget and implementation plan. Is the council meeting sitting as per the constitutional requirements, and when last did the Parks Department cut grass in cemeteries or in public areas?

As the political head of the Municipality, did the Executive Mayor take his constituency along to develop Integrated Development Plans and when last did the Council present its quarterly financial report to a council meeting?

There are more questions than answers. Let the people make their own observations and indicate whether our people are safe under the current political administration in Mogale City, and what needs to be done to defend the rights of the taxpayers and ensure that they receive services they deserve.
