The article Do car guards serve a purpose, which featured in the 27 January edition of the News, has reference.
The car guards at the new shopping centre are the most annoying bunch I have ever met.
They stand miles away from your car but see you walking, then run whistling and stand watching you pack the car while they wait for their money. I would not moan if it just happened once but this has happened at least six times. I seriously get so annoyed with them that I actually swear at them, which is not right, but that’s the mood they put you in with their actions by just standing waiting for money and after you give they don’t even help you out the parking they just walk away.
I have no problem with other shopping centre’s car guards.
So yes I think it’s up to the person to give or not to give depending on what service you get from the car guard. I don’t have to pay them if I don’t want to because my car is insured if anything [goes wrong] and I do know how to reverse and park my car but I do it if I get good service because at least these guys are doing something instead of standing at robots begging for money.
