Car guards are being exploited

Desmond Boutle from Krugersdorp writes:

In response to the article Do car guards serve a purpose which featured in the 27 January edition of the News, here is my response:

Firstly – yes they do serve a purpose as theft of cars has decreased drastically in the shopping centres.

Secondly – I feel that in certain circumstances the car guards are exploited by the big security companies. I note that at President Square they each have to pay a security company R40 to be able to get their vests for the day.

Sometimes the car guards do not even make the R40 that they need to pay and this is not right as they also have families that they have to support.

We in this country are trying to create employment for people, but these people get exploited. I think this needs looking into.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
