Stop blaming the truck drivers

Jan-Louis Benade from Krugersdorp writes:

The article Truck slices vehicle in half which featured on page two of the 2 June edition of the News has reference.

This is yet another accident involving a truck and car, but at least this time the blame is being placed on the correct guilty party.

I have driven trucks for over two years and in my short driving experience I have had multiple close calls as a result of car and minibus drivers not respecting truck drivers just because they are impatient.

I am fed up with truck drivers being blamed for crashes. My insurance company charges me three times more on my car insurance just because I have a code 14 driver’s license and all because it is easier for taxi drivers and other parties (won’t name them because I’ll be labelled as sexist) to get a code 14 than a code 8.
