There are no visible police or other law enforcement [forces] to stop you.
It’s impossible to drive in or near Krugersdorp these days, without being harassed and sometimes threatened by street beggars. Recently, while on my home from a kiddies party with a car full of children, I had an aggressive beggar banging on my car window demanding money. The children were frightened, in tears and traumatised. What can I do in this situation? It’s pointless calling the police, stopping or confronting the scum would put your life in danger, driving off through a red light puts everyone in danger!
Keeping still will get your car damaged. What is one to do? I must plead with everyone, don’t give these people anything, you are not helping, in fact you are becoming part of the problem. If you really feel sorry for them, take one home with you.
At the very next intersection, scantily clad prostitutes were strutting their stuff. My daughter (11) asked me who they are and why they were dressed like that in winter. What was I to say?
As a premium rates and taxes payer, I fail to see why I should feel threatened every time I leave my home. Where does our tax money go? Definitely not into safety and security.
So I beg the question – what can one do?
