A few years back, I wrote about the Krugersdorp Licensing Department, which services a vast area. That department is located in the middle of nowhere. As a result, it is inaccessible for the public, especially those who use public transport. There is no taxi that goes there. Can you imagine!
As an alternative, I suggested that the government build a licensing department in Kagiso. That has come to pass. However, I doubt that the licensing office in that location was built because I suggested so. But what a hack!
The Gauteng Provincial Government officially opened the licensing department in Kagiso a few weeks ago. It was opened by the MEC for Transport, Ismail Vadi. The Mayor of Mogale City, Naga Patrick Lipudi, was also in attendance. So was the ward councillor, Velile Khumalo.
The new licensing department is strategically located on Kagiso Avenue (popularly known as Big Street), one of the busiest and biggest streets in the area. It is also opposite the library and old community hall. It is accessible to everybody, including those who use public transport.
The presence of the licensing department there presents many possibilities. Those who have the entrepreneurial spirit should take advantage of the situation. They have the opportunity to sell their products and services to the public. This is an opportunity not to be missed.
Licensing departments around the country have a bad reputation; they are notorious for poor service and corruption. It is my hope and prayer that the service at the Kagiso Licensing Department will be on point, and that the Batho Pele principles will put into practice.
