A big thank you!

The Christie and Keyter families write:

I would hereby like to send my greatest thanks to the staff members and the doctors of the private hospital in Muldersdrift.

On Sunday, 23 September, I received a call from my mother-in-law to come and take my father-in-law to hospital as he was battling to breathe. I rushed through from Kempton Park and fetched him at his home in Krugersdorp and took him through to the casualty department. At the hospital, I was greeted by the staff members and told to take my dad inside immediately. The sister on duty attended to him immediately and while she was investigating the symptoms, she was asking me all the questions. Within five minutes of arriving at the hospital there was a doctor, a trauma sister and the sister that takes blood [attending to him]. The professionalism of the staff was absolutely amazing as well as extremely professional.

There was an old woman in the same procedure room as my dad and she was also treated with absolute professionalism and care, and even though she was waiting for a transfer to Leratong Hospital as she did not have a medical aid, the sister and the doctor were constantly moving between both patients. They treated both patients with the same passion and care. My father was then taken to ICU as he was in a critical but stable condition. The staff in the ICU were fantastic. He was later moved into the normal ward where both the day staff and the night staff took care of him as if they were related to him.

The professionalism, humanity and caringness of the staff, the way they treat the patients in general, was totally amazing. We had a meeting with the specialist the day before my dad passed away, and he was extremely professional but at the same time had a heart, as he knew what trauma we were going through, and his words and the way he explained everything to us comforted us. The following day, after the passing of my dad, the doctor phoned and gave his condolences to us as a family, which I must admit was an absolute first.

In closing, I would just like to thank the staff for being like a family to their patients and treating them with the utmost respect and compassion. Although I lost my father, I know he was in the best hands possible. These thoughts will never leave me or my family – thank you for everything.
