My letter published in the News of 27 September and the response to it by the Manager of Licensing Services for Mogale City Local Municipality, which featured in the 1 November edition of the News, refer.
Based on experience I don’t waste my time sending a complaint to customerservices@mogalecity.gov.za. On 19 May I complained to Hannie Marais at Mogale City about the missing stop signs as well as the faded road markings at stop streets. I also requested the installation of a yield sign for vehicles turning left from Hoffnaar Street into Robert Broom Drive, as the traffic light remains red for a very long period. I received no response to my complaint.
Since October 2018 I have been battling with Mogale City about a municipal account and several emails were send to the above email address. Once again, no response. After sending all those emails, I really got fed up and sent my concerns/ complaints to the News. My account was corrected and updated, thanks to the editor, Janine and her team at the News.
Nowhere in the Licensing Department did I see the manager’s name or number to lodge a complaint. The strike he refers to is no excuse as the conditions and services have remained the same over these years. Two counters are vacant and one cashier must assist with all licence renewals.
My concern, however, is the amount of stop signs that disappeared. The faded road markings contribute to the danger at intersections.
I will forward the email sent to Hannie Marais.
