A month’s water down the drain

Anonymous from Krugersdorp writes:

I want to report an ongoing incident regarding Mogale City Local Municipality. On the bend of Simon Bekker Avenue in Rangeview, at the back of the Romulus complex, water has been running from a leaking pipe into the storm water drain since about 2 May.

The water flow is such that if you look at the water meter for a few seconds, you can actually see the gauge moving. The issue is a leaking pipe within the complex, which the complex plumbers can’t fixed due to a faulty shut-off valve (Mogale City’s responsibility).

For a month now, Mogale has been alerted to the problem, followed-up calls were made, etc. The matter has been escalated to the ward councillor, the water department manager and others, and yet today, 1 June, the water keeps draining away.

Maybe some pressure from the press would do the trick?

*Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It has been forwarded to Mogale City’s communications department for urgent feedback – Ed.
