Love what you do

Some people love to complain, find faults and criticise everything around them. Bless them.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

I have a nephew, Daniel, and all he wanted to be was a paramedic. I don’t know if it is the uniform, the ambulance with sirens and flashing lights. Common sense about the low pay and dangers a paramedic faces could not dissuade him. Today he is a paramedic and he loves it.

In a world where so many people hate what they do, Daniel’s story is such an inspiration to me. He loves what he does, and he does what he loves.

So many of us live below the bread line when it comes to happiness. You may not be able to change your circumstances, but that does not mean that you cannot do what you love. In our modern world, you could become a volunteer in something that brings you happiness and purpose. Don’t give up and don’t settle for less. God created all of us to serve our fellow man.

He has given us so many incredible tools at our disposal – phones, internet and social interaction. Days, weeks, months and years flash past so quickly. No time to waste. Do what you love. Do what you were born to do.

Some people love to complain, find faults and criticise everything around them. Bless them. But you, with God’s help, can bring a ray of light into a dark soul with a smile, kind words, or a prayer. Imagine going to bed knowing you touched a soul and made a difference.

Do what you love, love what you do.
