Fights dedicated to women

Four kickboxers from Krugersdorp were among the fighters who got into the ring to give their support in honouring women.

Kickboxers from as far as Pretoria and Vanderbijlpark was ready to take a few punches to honour women on National Women’s Day, 9 August.

Mosito Mphaphathi, the South African Professional Martial Arts Commission (Sapmac) president and Shihan of the African Karate and Combat Zone (AKCZ) in Krugersdorp told the participants at the event, held at Cedar Lodge, that it takes guts to get into the fighting ring.

“I always say to the fighters, by getting into the ring you are already a champ because who would allow themselves to get beaten up. There are a lot of people who want to be in the ring and whether you win or lose, you are still a winner because you have made it this far.”

Four fighters of AKCZ namely Norah Matlhaga, Mogale Mathloko, Obakeng Tsime and Jeremia Makhetha participated and have made Shihan Mphaphathi proud.
