Khosa hockey season ends on a high note

A rodeo-themed prizegiving ceremony was held at the Khosa Sports Club.

The Caxton Khosa hockey season ended on another successful note when several players were awarded at a special prize-giving dinner at the Khosa Sports Club.

This year the players, coaches and other committee members who contributed to the successes of 2014, had a great time dressing up for their rodeo-themed event.

The following awards were handed out at the event:

• The Colin Campbell trophy was awarded to Jarred Liebenberg for the most improved schoolboy.

• The Pikkies trophy was awarded to Jenise Bredenham for the most improved schoolgirl.

• Kyle Thumpston was rewarded the Peter Kewney trophy for the most improved junior male player who has played at the club for about two years.

• Viance van der Walt was awarded the Gill Kewney trophy for the most improved junior woman player who has played at the club only for about two years.

• The Jan Serfontein trophy went to Kevin Lourenco for the most improved senior male.

• The Craise Lyle trophy for the most improved senior woman went to Jenny le Roux.

• Richard Dinkelmann received the Robertson Dauncy trophy for umpire of the season.

• The Spoon men and ladies trophies for the stirrer on or off the field were awarded to Brendan Thomas and Vanessa Caroto respectively for always complaining about anything concerning the club – on and off the field.

• Dave McGeehan received the Toiletseat Men trophy for being the biggest turd on the field as he always complains and receives cards.

• The Jimmy Shaw trophy for the sportsman and sportswoman who never complain on the field and play the game in a true sporting way is shared by Robert Dauncey and Claire Joubert.

• Elaine Crewe was awarded the Chippie Eloff trophy for always being at functions and doing her bit for the club.

• The third side ladies team received The Rock trophy for being the most spirited side that is always at the functions.

• Yolandi Reyneke received the Carol Viljoen trophy for what she has done for the ladies.

• Tracey Morton received the Niel Carter trophy for the person who has done the most for the hockey section.

• Odette Kotzé was awarded the Danny van Rensburg trophy, a chairperson’s award handed over by the chairperson.
