Aim high with Khosa hockey
The Khosa Mini and Junior Hockey Club aims high this 2024 season. Don't miss their open day at Krugersdorp High School on February 17.
As the anticipation for the 2024 hockey season reaches its peak, the Khosa Mini and Junior Hockey Club is poised to deliver a stellar experience for players of all ages.
Registration is now open, marking the commencement of pre-season training that promises to set the stage for an exciting year ahead.
Recognised as the largest hockey club on the West Rand, Khosa draws support from a diverse range of players, spanning over 30 schools, as far afield as Bekker, Laerskool Randfontein and neighboring schools in and around Krugersdorp.

Chairperson of the club, John Westermeyer said, “We cater to players aged under five to under 16 for both boys and girls, offering age-appropriate training programmes with the ultimate goal of unlocking each player’s full potential. Our club boasts a comprehensive range of hockey formats, including field hockey, indoor, and Fast 5s. These varied formats enhance players’ skills, focusing on aspects such as reaction times, strategy, teamwork, and game management.”
Affiliated with the Southern Gauteng Hockey Association, Khosa hockey provides players with the opportunity to engage with other clubs in Johannesburg, fostering exposure and collaboration within a diverse pool of talent.

To start the season in style, the club will host an Open Day on February 17 at the Krugersdorp High School (KHS) astro.
“This event invites the public to meet our dedicated coaches and allows prospective players to showcase their abilities at various skills stations. The Open Day promises not only exciting hockey action but also a festive atmosphere with food vendors and hockey equipment suppliers on site.”
