An October Fest … but with a padel

The local padel court had an October Padel Fest to involve the community in this emerging sport.

From youngsters to even the elderly, padel as it is known in the UK and all over the world, is an emerging sport.

Padel fever has since reached Krugersdorp and to create more awareness around the sport, Padel Farm hosted an October Padel Fest.

According to the manager of the courts, Jessica Joubert, every year there are October Fests all around and they wanted to do something similar but, instead of a beer in the hand, one would replace it with a padel.

She said with this fest, there were numerous games players could participate in to win prizes, including spin-the-wheel, balloon popping and the main event, padel ping pong, which has the same rules as beer pong, except with baskets and padel balls.

“The main goal of the day was to get the community involved in the sport, where families and friends could enjoy the day,” she mentioned.

As the Krugersdorp News visited the fest, there were food stands as well as jumping castles, but the games were harder than expected. To enter and spin the wheel, you had to bounce a padel ball 10 times on the side of the padel.
