The Key West Lions roar!
The U15 and U16 teams representing the Key West Lions excelled at the finals of the Action Netball Super League.
Two Key West Lions netball teams made Krugersdorp proud at the finals of this year’s Action Netball Super League tournament in Pretoria.
The Action Netball Super League tournament is an inter-provincial tournament where various other indoor Action Sports netball teams go head-to-head on the court to show off their skills.
“We had over 103 players representing Key West ranging from U11 to U19. However, our U16s and U15s came away with brilliant results, placing third and fourth place respectively,” said U15 coach Maryka Liebenberg, adding, “Action Netball is a fast-paced seven-a-side game that is perfect for players to satisfy that social or competitive drive and to get a team together.”
She mentioned it is perfect for men and women to play in a team together, and more often than not, it’s the women bragging at the end.
“Action Netball is for all types of people and at 35 minutes per game fits into your busy lifestyle. From beginners to social, and corporate to competitive, this game is great for forging friendships or meeting new people. Simple to play and everything provided, from the ball to the umpires, come along and join a league or book for a social game.”
Following their success at the tournament, the girls now have their sights on even bigger goals in 2025.
“We hope to excel at the Western Gauteng Tournament in 2025. Setting strategic, impactful, and measurable team goals is vital for 2025. Goals can be related to a wide range of areas for me, including individual skill development, team performance, fitness, and competition outcomes and more skill development between the players. Improving our win-loss record or reducing the number of turnovers in a game. Improve the players’ physical conditioning and endurance and most importantly prepare players more mentally before games,” Maryka concluded.
