Synergy Worx dancers shine on the international stage

Synergy Worx dancers shine at numerous national and international competitions.

Dance talent and hard work took centre stage at Synergy Worx Dance Studio this year, as their dancers achieved remarkable success.

After competing in multiple competitions, trials, and provincial challenges, the dancers earned their Gauteng colours. They followed this by excelling at the national dance competition, where they were awarded South African colours, ultimately paving the way for international triumphs.

According to studio director Natasha Rizzo, the dancers recently participated in the Talent Africa Dance competition in Namibia and the International Fine Arts Association competition in Mauritius. At these prestigious events, they earned their green and gold International Federation Colours through the association.

Among the standout performers were Alice Grobler, who claimed the title of Junior Overall Champion at the international competition, and Unathi Maphanga, who won over the judges with her talent and charm. Both dancers secured top spots on the podium, cementing their status as rising stars in the dance world.

Unathi’s journey has been particularly impressive. In April, she competed at Star Power International and won a full scholarship to dance in the USA. By August, she was named Synergy Worx Dancer of the Year, and in September, she earned her SA colours at Nationals. She also secured first place in the solo dance category and received a golden ticket to compete at the 2025 international competition.

“Despite her many achievements, Unathi remains as humble as ever,” said coach Simone Ricardo.

“She attends classes with a smile, always gives her best, and cheers for her teammates. She is a little girl destined for stardom, and we’re excited to see her continue to grow.”

Natasha echoed these sentiments, adding, “We are beyond proud of our dancers. While others might spend their free time relaxing, our dancers dedicate their weekdays to perfecting routines and preparing their bodies, and most weekends they are competing. What’s even more impressive is the camaraderie they display – not just toward their teammates but also toward dancers from other studios. They cheer for everyone, and we could learn a lot from their spirit.”
