Bon Voyage Dick

Life member Dick Jacobs will return to England after 26 years at Krugersdorp Bowling Club.

The Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) recently said goodbye to one of their bowling heroes and life members, Dick Jacobs.

According to KBC spokesperson David Parker, Dick will be returning to England to live with his family after his wife passed away.

He added Dick joined the KBC in 1998 after playing at a few other clubs, where he finally settled at KBC as a coach.

“He put in many hours in coaching for a lot of our current players. He had the pleasure of coaching coaching families who went on to represent them at club level, together with many other club members,” David explained.

David added he served the club for many years in different positions, including being president for two years.

“He played for the club for many years and was also selected to represent Sables for the inter-district team. He also managed the Sables senior team at the district tournaments,” he added.

“For all his time given to the KBC, he was awarded life membership for his service at the KBC. Numerous club players paid their tribute to Dick for all he has done for them. It was a pleasure for me to have known Dick for the past 10 years.”

Andy Selby, president of KBC made a presentation for Dick and said they wished him all the best for his life in England, and that the KBC is losing one of its heroes.

Andy thanked him for his dedication towards the club, and that it was a pleasure to everyone who has known and played with him.

“It was a great pleasure for me to have spent 26 years at this great club, and I’m thankful the current management is making the club such a great place,” Dick said.
