According to Mogale City Local Municipality communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, the aim is to foster the growth of young talent.

This event is set to become one of the most anticipated sports gatherings in the city.

“Whether you are an aspiring professional netball and soccer player or an enthusiastic spectator, the mayor’s Easter Games promises a memorable experience that celebrates community spirit, sportsmanship and promotes a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

Mahlangu added that the tournament is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder local teams from participating in this thrilling competition.

“In a bid to make the event more accessible, all participating teams will receive sporting kits, courtesy of the mayor’s office. This initiative addresses the challenge of affordability and ensures that every player has the gear needed to perform at their best, regardless of their financial standing.”

According to Mahlangu, preliminary games took place on the weekend of April 5 to 6, and these preliminary matches gave teams the chance to sharpen their skills and prepare for the main tournament.

“Additionally, all participants had to attend an important meeting where the organisers provided information on the rules, game formats, prizes and more – ensuring that all teams are well-prepared.

So, we say to residents, mark your calendars, rally behind your teams and get ready for an unforgettable experience. The countdown has begun, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

She concluded by saying that a list of venues will be released to confirm with residents.
