Over 200 runners take part in Berg en Dal classic

Krugersdorp Road Runners welcomed more than 200 locals and visitors for a milestone 30th Berg en Dal Night Race at Hoërskool Noordheuwel.

Runners, along with participants from Randburg and the East Rand, flocked to Krugersdorp on January 7 for the first major race of the year.

According to event director Stephen Anderson, this year marked the 30th edition of the Berg en Dal Night Race, welcoming runners from clubs across the West Rand and beyond to Hoërskool Noordheuwel.

The atmosphere was lively, with participants choosing between the 15km competitive road race and the 5km fun run.

Hosted primarily by the Krugersdorp Road Runners, the event has a history dating back to the 1970s and has significantly contributed to both social and competitive running in the region.

Their premier race, the Berg and Dal Night Race, draws runners of all levels from near and far, and this year’s edition was touted as bigger and better than ever. Sponsors, including Decathlon and UniCollege, provided refreshments and support to participants. Over 200 runners took part, with winners in each category claiming prizes and bragging rights.
