Sables Ladies shine for KBC in Cape Town
The Krugersdorp Bowling Club’s Sables Ladies team delivered a dominant performance in Cape Town, securing gold after a confident victory over Bowls Gauteng North.
Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) celebrated a remarkable day on March 13, as their Sables Ladies team reached the final of the National Inter District tournament in Cape Town, showcasing skill, determination and teamwork.
According to KBC spokesperson David Parker, the Sables faced Bowls Gauteng North in the gold medal match. Despite tough conditions with temperatures exceeding 35°C, the team maintained steady play throughout the week.
“They kept the pressure on the opposition, and as the game progressed, they seemed to gain confidence in each other, which led to a convincing victory over Bowls Gauteng North,” Parker said.
Meanwhile, the Sables Ladies B team competed in Ekurhuleni, demonstrating consistent performance to secure the bronze medal.

“This was an achievement for a team that had a few players playing in their first inter-district tournament,” Parker added.
He highlighted that the results reflected strong team spirit.
“When I spoke to Sables president Brian Oxlee about the results, he said he was over the moon that the ladies achieved medals, which Sables haven’t done for a long time,” Parker said.
KBC president Andy Selby also expressed pride in the medal haul. Parker concluded that all KBC members are immensely proud of the ladies’ contribution and their role in bringing home medals for the club.
