Brad finishes in top 10 in German MotoGP

Despite battling a rear tyre problem in the closing laps, Krugersdorp's Brad Binder held on to finish in the top 10 and collect valuable championship points at the German Grand Prix.

Local MotoGP rider Brad Binder secured a top-10 finish at the German Grand Prix this past weekend.

The race took place from July 10 to 12 at the Sachsenring circuit. According to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, Binder finished 10th, earning six championship points.

According to MotoGP’s official website, Binder completed the 30-lap race with an average speed of 160.1km/h, crossing the finish line in 41:15.285 minutes.

“I felt like I was being so kind to my rear tyre and I would have something at the end of the race, but with two laps to go it completely went,” Binder said.

“I’ve never felt a tyre drop like it, and somehow we managed to get home. I can’t believe I got 10th place. We still need to find some extra speed and some extra performance, although the bike package improved over yesterday. We still have some work to do,” he added.

Binder is currently 13th in the MotoGP championship standings and will be back in action at the Grand Prix of Great Britain from August 6 to 9.
