An obligation or necessity?

The disturbing video footage of a sex pest tormenting a few elderly residents of a local old age home left me with a foul taste in my mouth.
What is this world coming to?
In today’s ever increasing public perception of what is considered right or wrong, this person committing these acts clearly is not in the right state of mind.
But did our social standards as a society drastically drop? Do we turn the other cheek on what is considered to be inexcusable?
We might feel very little is being done by the authorities put in place to guide and protect us, but maybe our very own filters need to be cleared up.
As a community, we also have an obligation to protect our children and elders.
Perhaps the obligation needs to turn into necessity.
