[KYK] Fiela actress’ roots sprouted in Krugersdorp
The Krugersdorp-born actress plays the role of Barta van Rooyen.
One of the most highly anticipated films to be released soon features an actress who has some firm Krugersdorp roots.
The newly adapted Fiela se Kind comes out on 13 September and has a smorgasbord of exceptional local talent with Cindy Swanepoel, a Krugersdorp-born actress, in the role of Barta van Rooyen.
The film, in a nutshell, is about a coloured woman living in the arid Karoo, who takes in a lost white child and raises him as her own. Nine years later, the boy is removed and forced to live in the Knysna Forest with a family of woodcutters who claim that he is theirs.
Barta is a woman who has given up on life, she is broken inside. The loss of her child and the guilt that she has carried through life have left a mark on her and she takes the path of least resistance. The eternal victim, she doesn’t have the confidence to even wish for anything more out of life. She is a schemer and chooses her safety over those of others.
