Help Wings of Inspiration spread joy this Christmas
After such a depressing and stressful year, Wings of Inspiration is asking for help to make Christmas a more positive experience for the children and elderly people they support.
Non-profit organisations (NPOs) are the shining lights of each community they work in. The people responsible for these organisations give up their time, effort and money to help someone other than themselves, and without NPOs, the world would be a much darker place.
One very important NPO that works throughout the West Rand and in Mpumalanga is Wings of Inspiration. The organisation is predominantly run from Roodepoort, but the people they support come from all over the country.
As the festive season draws nearer, the organisation is hoping to spread a little positivity after such a negative year. “If we all stand together, we can accomplish so much more,” said Anthea da Costa, the organisation’s Director.
Through their Soup Kitchen, Play School, Orphanage, Elderly Care Centre, and Sober House, Wings of Inspiration cares for addicts, underprivileged community members, orphans, abused and traumatised children, and elderly residents with no one to turn to. “Just to see the change one person can make in a child or abandoned elderly person’s life is really extraordinary and it makes life worthwhile,” Anthea continued.

This year, the organisation is asking for community members and businesses to partner with them and help give the people in their care an unforgettable Christmas.
Any funds raised from this project will be used for:
• Christmas party and gifts for Dorah’s Ark (orphanage)
• Christmas party and gifts for the Elderly Care Centre in Randfontein
• Christmas party and gifts for their Play School in Mpumalanga
• School shoes and bags for Dorah’s Ark
• Stationery supplies for Dorah’s Ark and the Play School
• Food for December and January
Wings of Inspiration currently caters for 36 orphans at Dorah’s Ark, 53 senior citizens at Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre, and 45 children at the Play School.
If you are unable to contribute financially, Anthea said that the organisation will be more than grateful for any donations you can spare, from food and toys, to old clothing and school supplies for either the children or the elderly community members. Any donations can be dropped off at the Wings of Inspiration Head Office, 35 Karee Street, Helderkruin.
If you are able to donate money, please email proof of payment to anthea@wingsinspiration.co.za so that the organisation can allocate your contribution accordingly. Anthea said the organisation is also more than willing to prepare a Section 18A Certificate for accounting purposes and tax returns.
“Please help us make it possible; with this difficult year we had we need to uplift our children and golden oldies,” concluded Anthea.
Banking details and more information about the organisation and what they do can be found on their website, www.wingsinspiration.co.za. Alternatively, contact Anthea on 011 764 1323 or via the email listed above.
