Staged robbery suspects in court

Three suspects arrested in connection with an alleged staged robbery early in October appeared in the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court on Friday.

According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, the case was postponed to January 12 next year pending further investigations.

They appeared on charges of common robbery, conspiracy to commit crime and carjacking.

Karobo Lebea and Lisborn Nhlala robbed Jean Pierre Potgieter of a large amount of money in front of a bank on October 6. He was on his way to deposit the money for the company where he was employed. Police investigations however revealed Potgieter was in cahoots with the robbers. They were arrested the same day.

Lebea and Nhlala confessed to hijacking the vehicle used to flee the scene.

They were granted bail of R5000 each, Mulaudzi said.
