UPDATE: Suspects arrested after Haenertsburg murder

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of Rina Langenhoven, aged 67, on the local farm Silver Mist close to Haenertsburg.

A domestic worker discovered the body on Monday morning.

According to Colonel Ronel Otto, Provincial Police Spokesperson, the suspects were arrested after detectives found the vehicle that was stolen from the scene.

They followed up further information and arrested the three suspects at Mshongoville Village on Monday night.

One of the suspects previously worked at Silver Mist.

Items missing from the house including a laptop, radio, television and cellphones were found in their possession.

They are due to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates’ court Thursday on charges of murder and house break-in.

The victim was attacked while watching television.

“Her hands were tied behind her back with sellotape and her mouth was also closed with the same material.

Her body was left under a mattress in one of the rooms,” said Otto.

Langenhoven was the resort manager at Silver Mist.

She was unmarried and lived alone.

“She has received personal tuition from Monty Roberts in his renowned Joining Up method of training horses and applies this to all her training, particularly of stallions. A breeder in her own right, she has bred, trained, nurtured and ridden several winning horses in endurance racing,” says the Silver Mist website about the victim.

She was passionate about horses and loved travelling.

Otto added that an autopsy still has to be done to determine what type of murder weapon was used.
