More than R10 million worth of trucks burnt out at the SMB Plant Hire in Phalaborwa.

More than R10 million worth of trucks burnt out at the SMB Plant Hire in Phalaborwa on Friday night, 12 January.

The security guard who was on duty at the time claims that he saw the fire coming from the trucks which were parked inside the yard.

By the time the Fire Brigade arrived at the scene, four trucks and three trailers, worth well over R10 million, were already burnt.

The police in Phalaborwa are investigating a case of malicious damage to property following the burning of the four trucks and trailers.

Speaking to the manager of SMB Plant Hire, Monika Bezuidenhout, she said: “Currently it is a crime scene and there is no outcome of it, so I don’t want to comment on anything.”

No arrests have been made to date and anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station.
