WATCH: ‘Maripe ware sekodisa’ – Tzaneen Council Sitting interrupted by muni workers

The workers were singing struggles songs and chanting 'Maripe ware sekodisa' meaning, Maripe is making us struggle.

The Council Sitting of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) was interrupted by some of the municipal workers under the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) at the Tzaneen Showground Hall on Thursday afternoon, 30 May.

According to the workers they are not happy with the management’s decision for taking forward certain policies to the council before consulting them with policies the institution wants to implement.

The workers were singing struggles songs and chanting ‘Maripe ware sekodisa’ meaning, Maripe is making us struggle.

The security refused the workers entrance to the hall.

The employees eventually left the council in peace and went back to work after they were informed that they will be in talks with the political management team.
