Princess M releases single to encourage the African child

Gospel singer, Princess M, released a new single called Freedom on New Year’s Day.

The singer, whose real name is Princess Mnisi, says the song came to her in her dreams on July 31 last year. “This song is different from my songs because it is not necessarily a gospel song, but a message to the African child that you can only experience freedom if you know who you are. We need to stand up and believe in our abilities,” she said.

Although she grew up singing and playing musical instruments at church, as the daughter of preachers she never wanted to pursue music as a career. That all changed after she was involved in a car accident in 2008 which left her in a coma and paralysed for some time. At the time of the accident, she was seven months pregnant and lost the baby.

“Doctors told me that I would never be able to conceive and walk again. “I’m grateful to God because after the healing process and going through surgeries for ten years, I’m walking, and I have received two more miracle babies,” she added. She is married to Louis Mnisi, and the couple has three children. Writing songs was part of her healing and her family encouraged her to record the songs giving way to the album, The Crown.

The album was well received by gospel lovers nationally, and also in Mozambique where she performed last year to a big crowd. The Crown includes songs such as Ntshava leyi, and hita hlula, and wa horisa. She is also a youth motivational speaker and MC at events. Her company, Bovha Productions produces her work and she collaborates with Barhule Communications for photography, video, and other digital work.
