Police host sports day against gender violence

On Wednesday, the police’s Mopani District Zone 1 soccer team played against the Department of Public Works (DPW) to create awareness against gender-based violence and femicide.

This follows after the body of Mmabore Segale (33) from Namakgale in Phalaborwa was discovered at the abandoned MacDonald fruit shop building in Tzaneen on R36 road ten days ago. The match ended with DPW winning 4-1 to Mopani District Zone 1.

“On the day, we advised the men to seek professional help when faced with domestic challenges and not to think that their burden is heavier than that of others. They were also advised to respect the laws of the country at all times no matter the situation they encounter and the danger of peer pressure,” said Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu of Tzaneen SAPS.
