Bolobedu woman arrested after boyfriend found dismembered in shallow grave
Investigators in Tzaneen made a major breakthrough after uncovering a shallow grave containing the remains of a 42-year-old man.
LIMPOPO – The Tzaneen police have arrested a 31-year-old woman in connection with the brutal murder of her boyfriend, whose dismembered body was found buried in a shallow grave behind his home in Morutji Village, Bolobedu South.
According to the Limpopo police, the victim, identified as Isaiah Thomas Maphalle (42), was discovered after concerned community members reported suspicious activity at the property to the police.
“When officers arrived, they uncovered a shallow grave containing human remains wrapped inside a maize meal bag. The body had been dismembered. A full investigation was immediately activated, and police later arrested the woman believed to be the victim’s girlfriend on Thursday (December 4),” the police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba said.
He added that the motive for the killing is not known and investigations are ongoing.
The provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe commended the swift work of the investigative team, adding that acts of extreme violence will be met with firm action.
“This was a deeply disturbing crime. The team acted swiftly and thoroughly, and we will not tolerate such brutality in our province,” she said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday (December 8) on a charge of murder.
