Giyani police hunt suspect in murder of elderly traditional healer
Giyani police are searching for the shooter of an 80-year-old traditional healer, killed in Nwa-Khuwani village.

LIMPOPO – Giyani police are appealing to the public for urgent assistance in tracing a man linked to the murder of an 80-year-old traditional healer in Nwa-Khuwani village.
The incident occurred late on Saturday night (December 13), when police were alerted to a shooting and immediately responded to the scene.
On arrival, officers found the victim’s son, who pointed out his father’s body lying on his back near the gate of their home.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says the two had been asleep when they heard a motor vehicle hooting outside the house. The son went to investigate and found a man standing next to a vehicle parked at the gate.
The man asked him to call his father.
“When the elderly man joined his son at the gate, the suspect reportedly introduced himself as a police detective and claimed there was an outstanding case against the victim, something the family was unaware of,” says Ledwaba.
Moments later, the perpetrator opened fire, shooting the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Emergency Medical Services were called, but the victim was declared dead on arrival.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown. A murder case has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.
Anyone with information that may assist police is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Michel Shivuri, on 082 729 0351, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, their nearest police station, or the MySAPSApp.
Police have reiterated their appeal for community cooperation as investigations continue.
