Lowveld Academy learners grow into a team at camp
"Leadership is about understanding the people around you," says Lowveld Academy's Reinhold Deacon, after learners bonded at the school's annual leadership camp.
HOEDSPRUIT – For the leaders of Lowveld Academy (LA), its annual leadership camp was more than a break from the classroom. It was an opportunity to build relationships, develop confidence and discover what it means to lead as a team.

Icebreakers set the tone
The camp began with icebreakers designed to push learners beyond their comfort zones and help them get to know one another.
As the activities and challenges progressed, learners began recognising each other’s strengths while learning to communicate and work together more effectively.
From strangers to a united team
What started as an unfamiliar group gradually developed into a united team, laying the foundation for their leadership journey.
Beyond the structured activities, the camp also gave learners time to connect on a personal level.
“Leadership is about understanding the people around you, working together and being willing to support one another,” said LA’s Reinhold Deacon.
A foundation for the year ahead
For these young leaders, the experience has laid a strong foundation, not only for their roles on the student council, but also for becoming positive role models within the Lowveld Academy community.
