The refurbished desks were officially handed over to the school on Tuesday, September 29, after they were collected from the school on July 17 and restored by the college’s carpentry students.

The project gave the students an opportunity to apply the skills gained through their training while addressing a practical need at a local school.

Principal commends the carpenters

College principal Dr Levy Baloyi officially handed over the desks and commended the carpentry students and their facilitators for using their skills to make a meaningful contribution to the school.

Department welcomes the donation

Speaking on behalf of the circuit manager, Department of Basic Education representative Dinah Maphoru said desks remained a priority in schools, as learners needed a comfortable environment to learn effectively.

“I would like to sincerely thank Mopani TVET College for this valuable contribution. We appreciate the support given to our schools and encourage the college to continue working with and supporting schools in our communities,” said Maphoru.
