Entries open for trail running adventure this weekend

Lowveld Trail Running will be hosting the second leg of this exciting trail running series at Zandspruit Wildlife Estate on Saturday.

The Zandspruit trail run is set in the exclusive Zandspruit Bush and Aero Estate, where participants can enjoy the company of African fauna whilst walking or running. Runners will most likely get to spot various species of the game with animals like Giraffe, Kudu, and Zebra plenty.

“We would like to recognise the support and contribution of our title sponsors, Pam Golding Properties Hoedspruit as well as the various contributions from Buco Hoedspruit and Izit Sports, Buco will provide their usual high standard of goodies to keep you hydrated, and the great news is that we have included an aid station on the 5km course, Izit Sports will have a range of their merchandise on sale and their lovely selection of prizes are sure to be well received by our podium finishers.

Yum Factory has sponsored the sports school league offering the athletes of LA Academy the great opportunity to compete in this awesome series of events, we look forward to hosting Southern Cross Schools and Hoedspruit High School. Brent Abrahamse Photography will be on route to capture our runners in action,” said Belinda Barkas from Pam Golding.

The first trail run to start will be the 20km distance race which has 198m elevation gain and starts at 07:00. The current record for the race is 1:17:01 and is held by Tsepo Pebane. Three aid stations will be available.

The medium run at 07:30. It is a 10km route with an elevation gain of 118m. Walkers are welcome for this race and two aid stations are included. The current record time is 48:46 and is held by Jacky Bango.

The short route starts at 08:00 and involves a 5km run or walk with a 56.9m gain. Courtney Jamnik is the current record holder with a time of 26:28 for the route.

Online entries close on Thursday, 5 May at 12:00, but late entries will be available on the day of the event at a R50 surcharge and registration starts at 05:30 until 06:30. Visit lowveldtrailrunning.co.za for more information on the event.
