Silver Fox FC wins Top Four Tournament

Silver Fox FC from Ndhambi village outside Giyani became the winners of the Top Four Tournament after defeating the hosts, Bamakhwa FC from Daniel Rababalela village 2-0 on Saturday, May 28.

“The first match was a good game and although there were some glitches along the way, we managed to win it 2-0. In the second game, it was a bit tougher, both teams were fighting to become the champions of the day. We really enjoyed the game and I am glad that we managed to win it too. It gives us much joy to be able to showcase our talent,” said Collen Seentsu, Silver Fox FC captain.

Silver Fix FC coach, Abraham Chauke said that they should have scored more than two goals since they created a lot of opportunities. “I am proud of what the boys achieved, although we could have done better than this. But all in all, what is important is the victory that we had against Bamakhwa. It was really hard to defeat them and being able to do that, makes me really proud of my team.

“I think being able to fix our mistakes we made in the first game, helped us win the tournament,” he said. The host’s team captain, Delton Chilolo, was disappointed that they lost but promised that they will work on their mistakes. “The tournament had to have one winner and unfortunately this time it was not us. “I think we were not properly prepared for the tournament, but the fact that we came second is something to be proud of.

“We will go back to the drawing board and check the mistakes we made and practice more so that we can do better at the next game,” he said. The organiser of the tournament, Manuel Rikhotso, was very pleased with how the tournament went. “This was just the start of many great games ahead.

“I have realised that a lot of young people from our villages spend a lot of time doing bad stuff, and I figured what better way to get them away from what they are doing than getting them involved in sports. Villages love soccer, so I have decided to start hosting soccer tournaments on weekends to keep them busy and entertained. “As soccer requires a lot of physical energy, players are tired after a game and just want to go home bath, and sleep,” said, Rikhotso.
