Fitness junkies showcase their strength at weightlifting competition

Junkies 4 Fitness hosted a weightlifting competition at their facility at Frans du Toit High School recently.

The organisers collaborated with One Way Church who also hosted a Christmas Market at the event.
The competitors attempted three different lifts, a front squat, a power clean and a deadlift.
The judges took the maximum lift of the competitor and divided it by their body weight to determine scores and placing.

The winners are as follows in the men’s division; first place was taken by Frans Vermaak, who managed to lift the 85 kg while doing a power clean, 90kg doing a front squat and 140kg doing a deadlift.
Julian van Niekerk attained second position, he managed to lift up to 75 kg while doing a power clean. Van Niekerk lifted 90 kg in a front squat and 145 kg during the deadlift.

Third position was taken by Juandré Diamond, who lifted up to 57kg doing a power clean, 48kg in a front squat and 102kg in a deadlift.
Ashleigh Tarr took the top spot in the women’s division, she lifted up to 80kg while performing a power clean, 91kg in a front squat and 161kg in a deadlift.

Carla Simpson took the second position after she managed to lift 56kg performing a power clean, 75kg in a front squat and 112kg in a deadlift.
Third position was taken by Annelien de Wet, who lifted up to 65kg in the power clean, 92kg in the front squat and 145kg while doing the deadlift.

Junkies 4 Fitness is a fitness centre that started in Phalaborwa and now has a second centre in Tzaneen at Ben Vorster High School.
