Nkowankowa Continental stuns Amazulu

Nkowankowa Continental FC u/18 recently participated in the Engen Knock-Out Challenge 2023, the Champ of Champs, in Johannesburg.

Although the local team did not make it to the semi-finals, they ended up in the group stages. Winning 1-0 against Amazulu FC was a highlight. Former team manager, Tsholofelo Bulala, told the Herald that although the team did not go far in the games, they learned a lot from the experience. She said that the event will always be a great memory.

“To be part of a national and well organised challenge, we felt blessed as a team. “We were one of the few inexperienced teams in the tournament, because we were playing with professional teams, such as Chippa United and Stellenbosch FC. “The tourney gave our boys exposure; they were on television, and they have learned a lot and came back home to implement what they have learned.

The challenge began on Wednesday, September 20 and ended on Monday October 2. Nkowankowa Continental finished fourth in their group. Stellenbosch FC were crowned the 2023 champions of the tournament
