Phalaborwa rider makes podium at MTB championship

Limpopo champion Aron van den Borre claimed a podium finish at the Harrismith MTB championship, clocking 00:29:23 in the sprog category.

LIMPOPO – Local rider and Limpopo champion, Aron van den Borre, obtained a podium finish at the inter-provincial MTB championship in Harrismith on Sunday, October 20.

He finished fifth with 00:29:23 on the clock in the sprog category.

The race winner was Thomas Booth from Gauteng with the time of 00:27:30, second was Christian Moolman also from Gauteng with 00:28:43 on the clock, Callanan Goetsch was third in a time of 00:28:58 and fourth was Henry Jacobs with the time of 00:29:01.

Limpopo was represented by three riders including Musa Chauke and Mauritz Meiring.

Meiring finished 11th with the time of 00:30:22 and Chauke 14th with the time of 00:31:24.

Stefan van de Borre, Aron’s dad, said he is proud of the boys’ performances.

“The boys gave it their all. They all managed to end in the top 15, it was a very fast and competitive race,” he said.
