Tzaneen United triumphs in derby

Tzaneen United FC secured a derby win over Nkowankowa Continental, climbing to fifth in the ABC Motsepe League under new coach Thabiso Msongelwa.

TZANEEN – Tzaneen United FC emerged victorious in the derby against Nkowankowa Continental, securing a 2-1 win at Nkowankowa Stadium on Saturday.

United’s new coach, Thabiso Msongelwa, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and emphasised their goal to win.

”It feels good to win such an intense and tough game. We are a big brand; we needed to protect our image, and we had to walk away with three points to keep up with the top teams.
We played to our strengths and needed to put smiles on the faces of our fans again,” Msongelwa said.

This victory marks Msongelwa’s second game with the team after the former coach, Oruel Sambo, resigned a few weeks ago.

Under Msongelwa’s leadership, United is currently in fifth position on the ABC Motsepe League log.

In contrast, Nkowankowa Continental dropped three places, from third to sixth position.

Selwane White Vultures lead the league with 12 points from seven games.

Tzaneen United’s next challenge is an away game against Munaca from Venda on Saturday.
