Cape Vulture Trail Run set for September

Get ready for the Cape Vulture Trail Run on September 6 at the scenic Cape Vulture Nature Reserve. Fun for all ages!

HOEDSPRUIT – Local runners and outdoor lovers are gearing up for the Cape Vulture Trail Run, set to take place on Saturday, September 6, at the scenic Cape Vulture Nature Reserve.

Hosted by Lowveld Trail Running, the event offers something for everyone, from seasoned athletes to families looking for a fun day out in nature.

Participants can choose between a 20km, 10km, or 5km trail route, each offering a unique way to experience the rugged beauty of the reserve.

The 20km long course is ideal for experienced trail runners looking for a tough but rewarding challenge.

The 10km route offers a moderate option for those wanting to test their limits without going too extreme.

The 5km short course is perfect for beginners, casual walkers, or families with children.

With the race starting at 07:00, runners will wind their way through one of the area’s most treasured natural spaces, a protected home to the endangered Cape Vulture and other wildlife.

Organisers say the event is about more than just fitness.

“We want to give people a reason to get outside, enjoy our incredible local environment, and support conservation at the same time,” said Belinda Barkas, a spokesperson for Lowveld Trail Running.

Funds raised through the event will support ongoing conservation efforts at the reserve.
