Spring Smash padel event launches in Hoedspruit
The inaugural Pam Golding Spring Smash padel tournament comes to Hoedspruit on September 20 with R40 000 in prize money.
HOEDSPRUIT – The growing popularity of padel in Hoedspruit will reach a new milestone next month when Pam Golding, in partnership with Hoedspruit Padel, hosts the first-ever Pam Golding Spring Smash padel tournament.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, September 20, and promises to bring together players of all levels for a day of competition, community spirit and entertainment.
Organisers confirmed that the event will feature three divisions, men’s, women’s and mixed, with 16 teams allowed in each category. No minimum skill level is required, making the event open to seasoned players and newcomers alike.
The entry fee of R1 500 per team includes a raffle ticket, a sleeve of balls, a tournament cap and branded merchandise. Players will also be competing for a share of over R40 000 in prize money, a significant boost that organisers hope will attract wide participation.
“We are thrilled to launch the Spring Smash as a flagship event for our community,” said the organisers. “It is not only about the competition but also about bringing people together to enjoy the game and the atmosphere.”

In addition to the excitement on court, spectators can expect vibrant sidelines with food, drinks and a festive spring atmosphere.
According to the event’s terms and conditions, matches will be played under the official rules of padel, with the tournament director’s rulings considered final. Players are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner, with any form of misconduct or cheating resulting in disqualification.
All participants are required to register before the closing date, as late entries will not be accepted.
With padel rapidly becoming one of South Africa’s fastest-growing sports, the tournament is expected to draw keen interest from both local players and visitors.
Spaces are limited, and organisers have encouraged teams to register early to avoid disappointment. For more information, 071 792 9610.
