The atmosphere was electric from the first whistle as both teams displayed impressive skill and determination. Sadly, however, after 90 minutes, the game remained deadlocked, with neither side managing to convert their chances into goals.

Although Eleven Stars displayed some impressive play that revived hopes within their camp that they might win the tournament, it all ended in vain as they failed to convert their chances. Both teams’ goalkeepers produced spectacular saves, keeping fans on edge as the final minutes ticked away.

The match eventually headed to penalties, a nerve-wracking decider that would determine who would walk away with the prestigious trophy. Supporters of Magondweni Citizen FC had almost given up hope after their team missed a few crucial chances early in the shootout.

Meanwhile, the Joyce Makgauta tournament continues to grow in popularity each year, bringing together teams from different villages around Giyani to promote unity, sportsmanship, and youth development through football.

This year’s edition once again proved that local football remains a powerful force for community pride and togetherness in Magondweni. “Apart from promoting sports and unity, the tournament also greatly benefits local businesses, especially those that sell food,” said Joyce Makgauta, the founder of the tournament.
