Atwell leads Impala team attack

Atwell Mokgolobotho delivered a standout five-wicket performance for Limpopo Impala in their opening match against Eastern Storm in Benoni.

LIMPOPO – Former Ben Vorster High School cricket star, Atwell Mokgolobotho, took five wickets in the very first game of the season for the Impala Cricket team.

He was the star of the game, taking the wickets in 38 overs for 138 runs, against the Eastern Storm at Willowmore Park in Benoni. Mokgolobotho told the Herald that although his team did not win, they had a great game, and it shows that they will have a great season.

“I feel so thankful to God and grateful for the talent He has blessed me with. Right now, I feel like a professional cricket player.”

“I feel so amazing after such a great performance and especially that it is the first game of the season, and playing as a contracted player for Limpopo is really an honour and a privilege. I’m excited to see how the season will progress. I’m thankful to my teammates for the constant support, I wouldn’t have done it without them and the support from the coaching staff, “he said.

Mokgolobotho began playing cricket at Bombeleni Primary School in Nkowankowa and represented Limpopo in national competitions from the age of 11.

He earned a scholarship to Ben Vorster High School in 2016 and completed Gr 12 in 2020.

In 2021, he joined the Sport School of Excellence at the Titans Cricket Academy in Pretoria before moving to the Limpopo Impalas.
